Here you have the good news! Star Wars Episothe II (The Attack of the Clones) will be released in USA and Canada on May 16, 2002 and in Spain on May 17, 2002. Only one day later (remember that “Episode I: The Phantom Menace” was released three months later). And do not forget about The Lord of the Rings (Official site, fan site, Spanish official site), it’ll be released worldwide on December 19, 2001.
There is an unconfirmed claim for Mersenne prime #39 of over 3,500,000 digits, for which a considerable amount of money has been awarded. More info: Mersenne primes, Prizes and Primenet. Also this story in Slashdot.
Eric Weisstein’s World of Mathematics, a free, online encyclopedia of mathematics was taken off the web thanks to a lawsuit by CRC Publishing. After much legal wrangling, it returns today stronger than ever. See it rise from the ashes at http://mathworld.wolfram.com. You can also readthe complete history of what happened to the site here. Very interesting.
It’s not the first time people talk about it, but it’s certainly the first time I read about it in a well-known source: hydrogen as the future alternative energy. Read more at Discover. BTW, here in Valencia some scientifics from the Universitat de València-Estudi General said in 1999 they got an hydrogen-powered engine… but I didn’t get any news since then. Was it a hoax?
According to the investigations of three astronomers, there’s a second moon orbiting around the Earth. It’s called Cruithne and it takes 770 (!) years to complete its horseshoe-shaped orbit. More info at space.com.
Oh yes, I already know. Some files for the Linux 2.4.0 Poster are missing. Concretely, that of the third row (from poster.3.1.pdf to poster.3.6.pdf). I hope to upload them in a few days, but I have a space problem (my hoster gives me no more space!). If you can help (by providing web space in a reliable location in Europe, without ads), please e-mail me
(31-10-01, 11.00 GMT)Oops! I’ve stored the files in Geocities, but Geoboys don’t allow to put external links (or it seems so). Try downloading from http://www.geocities.com/paugq and http://www.geocities.com/paugq2.
Pau’s site on the web has been (finally) updated. Well, in fact it has been completely redesigned and content renewed.
Main changes:
- Changed look & feel: this is now a weblog (kudos to Blogger for this service; and still better, it’s free as the beer!). If you want to post to the weblog, you have to ask me permission (don’t hesitate to e-mail me)
- Changed language: new page is written in English (the former one was written in Catalan). Some very local contents will be in Catalan or (seldom) in Spanish.
- New sections: programming, links, about me. In a (hopelly) close future there’ll be a new revolutionaire web-app that I’m developing. I’m also trying to patent it (my first patent, woohoo!)
BTW, the upper banner annoys me just as much as it does you. I’m just a poor student, so if you want it off, stop complaining and send me $12! (i.e. using PayPal).
